I gotta say the HP Elitebook range is pretty good, especially if you get the dock with it.
Check them out, they have some pretty tough housings too.

i do. i own two sony laptops. a pentium and a core 2 duo (one i'm typing on atm). they just as durable as the more expensive ones.

this had a bad heatsink and was recalled. no, sony sent someone to replace it. in my house! i could have done it myself but they insisted because of the warranty.

sony is one of the best. if i bought a mac, i would not have three laptops.

I am saying the Z series only, I cannot speak for the rest of thier laptops as I have only dealt with their Z series.
The Elitebook is a tougher laptop, I had a Vaio Z and the quality compared to the HP was not great.
For example the Elitebooks have aluminium tops and bodies and are a little thicker for durability. They also have drain features in the keyboard.
BTW how would a mac be better than 3 laptops, could you not just get a laptop with the same or better spec.

I believe Acer makes the "Timeline" series, but I don't know much about it.
