Also take a look at this: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Superi...36SD/#overview

I have this laptop, not with top specs though, and it's covered in light magnesium, so it's very solid. You can get it with an i7 standard voltage, and not those crippled dual core versions. The battery is insane. You can easily get over 10 hours with this thing.

Best of all? It has a 2 year warranty.

However, a deal breaker might be the screen which is 1336x768. But it's a 13.3" so it looks sharp anyway.
Thanks Kyle. Does this have a Backlit Keyboard as well?

Config away. It's at a happy medium in terms of size and it'll pretty much do anything you want (editing, gaming, etc). Throw in a 256 SSD with and any i7 from 7-2630QM-i7-2760QM and it reaches to about $1500-1600. Great price and deal for the specs.
Looks like a nice machine for sure Cheska... does it have a backlit keyboard option?

Nope, it does not.

You do however, need to realize that you can't always get it all, instead of being stuck on making a decision forever.

have you check out this samsung series 7 chronos?

better specs than a MBP and cheaper, I think it looks better too. Thats the bestbuy version its a bit watered down if your willing to spend 1200-1300 then
http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/l...NP700Z5A-S01US

its very light, absolutely sexy and faster than mbps best part. 15.6 inch screen in a 13-14 inch laptop form factor

edit : yea that dell is a bit dated.. for 1299... it looks big and bulky. and the dual core probably enough for a laptop but hey more stuff is using quad cores these days

The Chronos is awesome. Comes with an cache SSD and a faster hard drive than the Pro too, but I think Samsung is just trying to give Apple the middle finger.

But everything else is mostly a clone of the MBP. I think Asus has come the closest to beating it without cloning.

http://www.asus.com/Notebooks/Multim...specifications

If you've ever used a 15", you will know the speakers are terrible for a 2k machine. The ones in this one, however, are pretty good.

Oh the irony, apparently some people say the XPS 15z has bad speakers(and wifi issues) : http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/dell...erReviews;page

SSD: Tough decision, Crucial M4 or Intel 510 if you want something fast and reliable. I'm guessing M4 is more in your budget, only $410 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148449

Still confused on what you have against a 4.4 pound 15.5" laptop with 1080p screen and 6630M graphics and i7 2640M for $1250? http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/sto...52921644768017

JR hard 1 for me to figure it out.. does the sony have Backlit Keys? Is it a Slot Loading DVD?

Here is the one that I found

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+X...655687&st=dell xps 15z&cp=1&lp=2

Seems like that has all that I need... plus I have $60 bucks off on Rewards Coupons as well Lol. The WIFI was a early driver issue from what I can tell. THis Model looks like it's a brand new production Model in regards to the price point etc. I cant find it anywhere else for the similar price.

What do you think?
