[Kotaku] Mass Effect 3 Beta Leaks On Xbox Live

Earlier today, a private, closed beta for Mass Effect 3 accidentally turned up on Xbox Live. The 1.8GB download gave users access to singleplayer and multiplayer sections of the game well ahead of the beta's 2012 public release.

It seems to have been taken down by now, but while it was up lucky users were able to grab screenshots and video, which show the same singleplayer portion of the game shown to the press at GamesCom, along with some multiplayer stuff like character selection.
They also show that this was very much a beta, with missing textures, effects, etc.

Of interest are a screen showing Origin support, multiplayer character creation and level selection, along with character stats and other pieces of user interface 100x more useful than any hand-prepared action screenshot.

Some of the shots are courtesy of the link below, others were kindly sent in by readers. Thanks!

I'm digging the character creation screen for some reason.

Hopefully it lives up to the name.

This, I'll skip this game if origin is required.

Origin is not so bad that you should be skipping out on games because of it. That is absolutely ridiculous. It is not the developer's fault that it is stuck there - just because you have to support the publisher and it's launcher to play it is absolutely no reason to avoid the game.

Origin is not evil, and they will not use your information for absolutely anything.

Bioware is now a division of EA and have no control over this, as was DICE.

If you skip a game because of origin then you should quit gaming all together. No one will care, your loss.

I care because it's my money. Also I don't like how origin acts as I have tested it in sandboxie and it was very suspicious as to what it was scanning and sending. Why do you think there is an out rage over it in Germany? And besides I like to keep my games in case I want to reinstall them later on in life and not have them disappear after 2 years as with origin.

And yet everyone is somehow perfectly OK with steamworks? With a load of hypocritical crap I've seen from not only this community, but the community as a whole around the net. Why is OK for Valve and Steam to hold my copies of Deus EX, Shogun 2, Civ 5, Portal 2 and Fallout New Vegas hostage UNLESS I'm tied to their always-connected service? Because THAT is forcing you just as bad as EA with Battlefield 3 and Origin. I see so many people complain about how much they love Steam and think it's such a great platform, yet Origin, which does the EXACT same thing is bad because it's from a different company.

Open your eyes bud. Valve is just as bad as EA but they have this drone contingency going so strong I don't think most of their audience is able to escape.

They've confirmed it multiple times now they won't delete accounts with games on them. This is mostly to clear account space for people who create an account, never buy a single game and expect them to still keep it their 5 years later when they actually DO decide to buy something. If you have at-least one game, you're fine.
