Think about how they sell the same sports game 4 years in a row with roster update and some lame ass control gimmick tacked on. Think about how many years they **** on the PC gamers and now that steam is outselling console games they want a piece... lol. OBV all they care about is money.
People WERE just as pissed about steam but we accepted it because we learned to trust valve, the only game publisher with NO CORPORATE OVERSIGHT! Seriously would you rather your games be held by a private company of PC gamers in Washington state or some money grubbing ass big shots on wall street who report to investment firms full of fat ****s who never played a PC game in their life and laugh at the idea. READ THE EULA OF ORIGIN... EA will start screwing people sooner or later... that is their MO and always has been.
Now look at valve who started out as Quake 1 modders and continue to support the PC gaming and modding comunity with every action. The only complaint I have about steam is that valve first party games are not on other digital distribution services. It didn't really matter since last year Steam was pretty much the standard way to play games (how many companies can you think of that would have a nearly complete monopoly and not screw people over?) but now EA brings their browser **** origin with all EA games to be exclusive... even pulling all previous EA games. So now we have basically console war on PC except valve won't even play their stupid ass game. THANKS EA!!!!
I'm not defending origin as much as I could defend Steam. But the simple fact of the matter is that Steam/Valve is just as bad as EA and their mindless fanbase such as yourself can't accept that. Think about how many mods that were FREELY given away that they now charge you money for. If you're that angry about them releasing sports games, then don't buy them. There is obviously an audience for them and provide and guaranteed revenue stream to do games like Shadows of the Damned, Dead Space 2, Brutal Legend and Star Wars: The Old Republic among countless other good games they've released.
Think about Counterstrike was ruined with CS:S. Think about how they bought Portal from a group of college students instead of well, HIRING THEM. Think about how Garry's Mod and countless others were completely free now I'm charged TEN DOLLARS TO USE MODS! MODS! Think about how DOTA 2 is possibly going to be a pay-to-play game that under any other circumstance I'd be able to download and play. THINK ABOUT THE DAMN HAT SYSTEM WHERE COSMETIC ITEMS COST NEARLY AND EVEN OVER THE AMOUNT OF THE ACTUAL GAME! But this is all understandable and completely OK because in you and everyone like you in your drone contingency can't accept it. Why? Simply because it's Valve.
You're right you learned to trust Valve, and now they're screwing you inside and out for it. Mafia 2 30 dollars when it commonly on Amazon for 5-8. Just cause 2 20 dollars when it's commonly 7 dollars. RAGE is still going for 60 when I've seen it as low 25 dollars on Steam.
What's your excuse honestly going to be for that? "Wait for sales!" I know, but I want RAGE now and I can't get it better than any digital outlet but I forgot, I'm stuck to Valve like a crack fiend needs needles. And again, let's not forget Steamworks holding games hostage UNLESS you are keen on being content with relying on the IV-Line that is Steam.
And for the record, I wouldn't trust ANY COMPANY with my money. Why? Because they are a business before they're your friend. Remember that next time before you start talking about trusting a multi-million dollar company. Jesus Christ I can't believe I'm actually reading this! They've gone to show they are about the all-mighty dollar just as much as any other company MULTIPLE times. Wasn't their exact words and excuse for the hat system was "Yeah, we've given you enough and we thought it was about time WE made some money." And on nothing else other than the one thing EA is known for, cosmetic items. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
What happens when they continue pushing their cloud agenda and you're stuck playing your games inside of a browser window? What then? If you think Valve isn't going in the onlive direction then by all means you're the crazy one, not me. If we go to that point, forget it. No way in hell would I even support gaming in general if we moved onto a platform like that. But I guess you'll say it's totally understandable cause it's Steam.
