SLI GTX460 or....?

Thread Starter
Hey all,

Currently running an EVGA superclocked (further OCed via evga precision) GTX460 1GB EE in my rig. Wondering about 3 things:

1) Will the performance gain be worth getting another 460?
2) Should I do it? I've got some money to spend, I play some BF3 but I'm satisfied with the settings I'm currently playing it at. So if I do it it'll mostly be for e-peen and personal satisfaction
3) If I do get another EVGA 460, can I just get the regular external exhaust version and overclock it myself to match my current 460? (believe this is cheaper)

Comes down to either a new 460 or a new case.. Can't decide.......... THANKS ALL!

I'd say yes to all 3. #2 depends on your money situation, but 2 in SLI should help your BF3 performance quite a bit. (Remember though, in the heat of the action, it's hard to notice shiny graphics)

yes grab a gtx 460 for like $100 ... it will perform the same as a gtx 580... u will get all the satisfaction you want maxed out.

don't waste money on the 500 series stuff now. nothing on the market will need anything stronger than the SLI 460s.

use this setup till next year...then get the 600 series. its so late in the season no need to change up your whole gpu set up and spend over $400 to get max out BF3 when you can do it with $100.

1) You will definitely see a huge increase in performance with 2 GTX 460s vs 1.
2) If you're satisfied than you don't need to upgrade but the SLI GTX 460s should allow for near max settings aside from AA at 1080p
3) You can get any model 1GB GTX 460 for SLI, although overclocking capabilities aren't always the same for each card so there is no guarantee but it's possible it could overclock better as well.

Do whatever makes you happy!

Also yes any GTX 460 will do... the EVGA 'superclocked' means nothing...those increase in mhz can be easily achieved with any GTX 460

The actual scaling is around 90%. I grabbed another 460 two weeks ago, and I love those two monsters
