You has to have a telescope with an aperture 6in or wider to receive a clear image.

Nah that's next year when the sun starts flaring up. Nasa has already warned the public about it. last time this happened was late 1800's. Only issue now is, it will knock out most every electronic on the planet, including telescopes.

Alright so, no power for a couple of months? People do this everyday.

I look at it this way.

Shooting a nuke a at a astroid is like trying to shoot down a jet (Full hp to no HP) with a pistol half way across the map in Battlefield 3.

I guess it could happen, but it won't.

Actually, with a sufficient solar storm it could blow the entire power grid and at the rate it takes to produce new transformers ( not the ones on pole but the major stations ) it would take over 24 months to replace the >2000 units to restore power back to the country... this would happen all over the world as well.. start thinking not just losing power, but refrigeration, running water, sewer system for 2+ years....not a pretty sight considering we wouldn't know what to do in a scenario like that due to our dependence on technology.. many many ppl would die

Couple of months? You really underestimate sun, don't you? rolleyes.gif
It would kill all the electronics, not "freeze" them.

Now, about the asteroid. Please GTF0, thank you.
