Best budget BF3 Card

Thread Starter
Hey whats up OCN? I just got BF3, and as you can see in my sig, my system is a little dated. Right now I have $100 and I want to buy a new card. I do have cash flowing in (~$100 on the 7th and 22nd of each month) and I want to buy a new card. Ive done some research and have kinda picked out a couple cards, I just need some help choosing the best one, and figuring out wich one will overclock the best. Edit: Im running on 1920x1080 and my mobo only has one PciE slot
  • 560ti ~$220, $4.15/FPS (using Toms hardware data, BF3 Highquality) 1920*1080
  • 6950 $240, No data on BF3
  • 6970 $340 (Can't afford this one why is it on the list?)
  • 6870 $150, no data BF3

I want to run it on High settings with AA with at least 45-50FPS and I dont want to have to upgrade for at least 2 years (aka as long as it can run future games on medium/low with good fps Ill keep it)
Also I want to get this new card ASAP, so Im inclined towards a cheaper card so I can get the cash for it and the card sooner.

Thanks a lot!

what are you talking about.. no data?
Tom's also tested the 6870, 6950 & even the 6970

Either the 6950 or the 560ti.

I'd say save up until black friday/cyber monday at the end of november and get a 2gb 6950

6950/560ti.

if you're playing at 1080p the 2gb 6950 would be better than a 560ti. plus there's a chance you could unlock it to a 6970.

with that CPU, i highly doubt if you can get to 50 fps :/

Right now Nvidia does better with AA then ATI (Well it takes less hit 20% vs 35%) Now because of you budget will will not be able to use AA with either) That being said HD 6870 is the card to get for 150$ it faster then Ti with no AA.

very true. bf3 multiplayer is unplayable without a quad core. max fps you'd get with a dual-core is around 30.

I agree with cryolite. You definitely need a new cpu first. A dual-core is a huge bottleneck to your system thus you won't be able to get maximum performance from a 560 ti/6950.

What? You're getting $100 every 2 weeks? What kind of job is that?
