new strategy, get out of the PC desktop market, that is what i would do, and just focus on low-end desktop stuff. I mean they could just hire some engineers who actually know what they are doing.
I'm sure their engineers are perfectly competent, however it is difficult to come up with a product which is equivalent to Intel when their engineers are also competent but have billions more in resources to work with.

And they have not just more money, but people as well.
All of the Intel people would have to have a massive, collective brain fart and AMD would all have to become a hive mind for anything to become remotely even again in any of the markets (other than where the APU's are).

I just want to kick everyone at AMD in their butts to get them in gear. I kick really hard.

I'm not entirely sure that would matter. Intel might keep their tick-tock strategy, but improvements wouldn't be quite as big. Why would they need to be if no one can challenge them in the first place?

You wouldn't have to upgrade for a long time if that happened, as performance may only go up a tiny amount; maybe more per watt than anything. Then you could save you money for the next best extreme thingy.

I hope that they will stop making cpus.

Then everyone will be forced to buy Intel and there will be no more AMD/Intel fanboy wars.

Intel already has amazing IPC. All it needs to do is add more cores and it's set.

... Intel profit is going sky high ...

Buy Intel stocks... fast !

I just decided... my next gaming rig... will be a console ...

Tired of this "enthusiast markets" mambo jambo and spending money like a mad man.
And now, if AMD dumps ( not completely ... but if this is true, they will cut the a big % of focus in the high end pc platform market ... ) Intel will do whatever they want with the market... and why innovate if there's no one to say " in your face! " with new products.

This is the beginning for a turn table...

I've always wondered. Why doesn't intel do away with quad cores and dual cores and just sell 3 core, 6 HT's and 6 cores and 12HT's processors
post #60 of 143
I could see them moving away from the high end cpu market. An then just focusing on the mobile markets. If this happens intel we be able to charge crazy money for desktop cpus.
