[Xbit] AMD Set to Unveil New Strategy Next Week - Page 10

My prediction: AMD and AT&T announce a merger. Their next chips will have an IPC cap, and there will be a limit of 100,000,000,000,000 instructions allowed through the silicon per month. After you hit your cap, the chip throttles down to 80386 @ 20 MHz speeds. Additionally, the chip will only work in a few select cities in the United States.

I personally would not mind if they focused on only APU's and GPU's. I read a post where someone said ARM/AMD merge and make awesome APU and rename themselves "ARMD" or use all the letters and its ARMD UP. I personally am an AMD fan because I can't help but to root for the underdog, the little man. Intel is just a nasty corporation and just tried to annihilate AMD too many times by basically buying their way to the top and forcing AMD outta the picture. AMD is an awesome company in my eyes. Their products over the years have made so many people happy and I just wish the best for them and hope they are able to dig themselves outta this mess and still make quality products for many years to come. I know some Intel fans are gonna retaliate to this but that's fine, I'm speaking the truth and without AMD in the past computer technology wouldn't be half of what it is to day. Looking forward to hearing what they have to say about the future of their company.

There was a thread on [H] weeks ago asking users to post questions to AMD about Bulldozer. I wonder if all of those questions will be answered next week?

Well I hope they aren't planning on putting all there chips in on there APU's.

Remember people, Ivy Bridge quads will be 77w TDP and support DX11... And It's clear that AMD is "irrelevant" according to Forbes. So Why will OEMs give a Rat's Rear about AMD?

They give a "rat's rear" about Llano. Trinity is going to make them give two.

(hopefully)

Honestly I own a Dv6 With a A8 in it and it is nice.
But if I had the choice of that or a IVY with DX11....

I think it will be pretty clear that Trinity will fail. An APU with BD cores... No thanks! IVY will make for a Godly Laptop. Think Sandy Bridge but with a 77w TDP IN A NOTEBOOK!

New Strategy?

I will never believe a word AMD says again until I See it with my own eyes, then I have to smell it first.

And If Piledriver comes out as soon as they say...... it will just be a polished turd.

Then everyone will be forced to buy Intel and there will be no more AMD/Intel fanboy wars.

good one,i can see it now,all the IPC capfanboys fighting about which new company gets more IPC per month and there will be all kinds of new excuses like... well AMD/at&t are more consistant with IPC caps and in the end win the price/performance bracket and the intel/verizon IPC cap fanboys will say,intel/verizon lets you pay for higher extreme IPC brackets so they are the best.

My guess would be that they are trying to have more money to put into their engineering department. It's never good when a company has to fire a lot of its workers though.
