Anyone know of an apples to apples review for these two coolers?

I just made this switch about a week ago. So far I am extremely happy as there truly is a difference during load. I haven't done any scientifically-passable tests, but I can share my observations with you. While using the Hyper 212+ in a push/pull config w/ two 120 mm Blademasters (stock fans), I would be at about 70 C with prime95 load large-fft at a mere overclock of 3.3 Ghz.

I have since overclocked to 4.07 Ghz, and my max temp. using prime95 is 75 C.

Ambient is the same during both tests --> 22 C

The stock fan that comes with the EVGA is of greater CFM and spins at 2500 rpm vs. the 2000 rpm of the Cooler Master. This may actually account for the difference.

I believe that the EVGA does have more fins as well.... so better heat dissipation.

The biggest difference is that the contact surface of the EVGA is much more direct and does NOT have gaps like the Hyper 212+. Better contact = better cooling. I believe that the EVGA uses more direct heat pipes too.

Lastly, EVGA looks really cool if you practice vanity like I do smile.gif

It's not an amazing upgrade, certainly not evolutionary, but if you can sell your Hyper 212+ for $20, maybe use a coupon for $5-10 on the EVGA cooler on NewEgg, then in my opinion the change is worth it. I am not sure if "Newcustomer10" still works on NewEgg... But there might be something in the "Black November" thread over at "Online Deals."

Good luck man.
