Help me choose a 1600Mhz kit

Thread Starter
I have the following to choose from:
Kingston HyperX Blu
Corsair XMS3 1,65V
ADATA XPG Gaming Series

And for slightly more:
Corsair Vengeance Low Profile
Kingston HyperX Blu XMP
Kingston HyperX
Corsair XMS3 1,5V

These will be going into a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD4. Would a 1,5V DIMM help stability at lower VCCIO voltage over a 1,65V DIMM?

I'm going with a 1,35V 1600MHz kit from Corsair or A-Data. I like the possible premise of system stability at lower volts.

The corsair LP is okay-ish but you won't be able to overclock it much, not that it'll make difference anyway. If you check out the "OC and Choosing RAM for SB" link in my sig, you'll find more info there.

Hope that helps

Thanks, munaim1. Nice write up. Interesting to learn that SB doesnt require VDIMM and VCCIO voltage difference of 0.5v. I'm still inclined to go 1.35V in case it means I could set a lower VCCIO voltage for a cooler 2500k. I will be doing some video transcoding which the Anand article mentions benefits slightly from faster modules. Trying to hit a sweet spot and I don't like tall heatsinks.

Beside the Corsair White and A-Data XPG I have Kingston HyperX Lovo(9-9-9-27) and G-Skill Sniper(1.25V) available locally. After a bit of googling for reviews it seems only Corsair White could be pushed to 1866MHz in this segment: http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/429...8gb_kit_review

So it looks like A-Data for stock(faster timings than Kingston and cheaper) and Corsair White for overclock? Feel free to correct me on any point

About the same price as here. Corsair and A-Data offer a 8GB kit for about the same price. G.Skill do have tighter timings.

Seems the G.Skill will reach 1866MHz as well: http://translate.google.com/translat...dy-bridge.html

Ahh well, some other questions come to mind...

Will you be overclocking said RAM?
Will you be running Linux or Win7?
What will you be using the system for?
