6970 Overclocking Thread

Does a thread exist? I cannot find one, if there is sorry for the dupe.

Anyone who has ventured into overclocking theirs, post up your results so others know how they are fairing.

Not sure how well MSI Kombuster translates to gaming, but here is what I'm at right now. I will test it in games in a few minutes

That's pretty darn nice on air, i never really messed with mine all that much when I was running just a single 6970 and they start getting much more finicky while overclocking.

also, I will likely never use Trixx again on a non sapphire card or a multi gpu setup.

It borked over one of my Ares and I had to rma....did wind up with a new one, but needless to say it scared me off the software

Damn that's nice! Do you have fan speed on Automatic or Fixed? Whenever I seem to overclocked my Crossfired Sapphire 6970's I crash or I get artifacts in games.

Do you find you gain much at all taking the memory past 1450?

I only ran MSI Kombuster and the 1080 test, nothing else yet so it might not be perfectly stable yet.

As for temps my fan curve looks like: ( I could defiantly lower it a bit)

I honestly think its my case and the way I have the fans setup that are giving me great temps. Every graphics card I have run in my sig rig has run significantly colder then people on this forum, and I like to have my house warm so the ambient temperature in my house doesnt have anything to do with it.

I wish Battlefield 3 had a benchmarking tool. So far this is what I have come up with.

Crysis 1920x1080 DX10 VERY HIGH 8xAA

Core Clock/ Memory / Voltage/ (all maxed out @ 64C)

0880/1400/1175 41.5FPS
0965/1400/1250 43.9FPS (5.78% Total Gain)
0965/1500/1250 44.9FPS (8.19% Total Gain)
1000/1500/1250 45.6FPS (9.88% Total Gain)
1000/1550/1250 46.2FPS (11.3% Total Gain)

Can you post temperatures and voltage for those please? I'm wondering what people are using for their voltages.

Very nice OC though.

The third number is voltage. Also my temperature never goes over 63C (except once). Im surprised too, I guess I just have my airflow setup perfectly.

Just played battlefield for an hour @ 960/1500/1250 not a single problem.

lol duh, nevermind.

I guess I should try upping my voltage with a bios flash and see if I can game with more stability... I'm also surprised that you're getting increased performance with the vram at 1500... most people reported having lower performance after 1450 or so, since ECC would kick in. It could be with 6950s that I'm thinking of, which have lesser quality RAM modules.

Either way, thanks for the info!
