In need of a new phone, suggestions?

Well my N900 is pretty much giving up, and is near death. So I'm in need of a new phone, even though I wanted to wait till summer. If Android is the only thing suggested, then this will be my first android phone. I do own a Samsung Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 (I think its known as a Samsung Galaxy Player over in the states?) and boy does this thing feel cheap and plastic-y. So not quite sure on how the new Galaxy S2 feels.

Not sure if phones supplied by carriers are locked and won't let me use them with a sim card from another country? So I guess it needs to be unlocked, but please do tell me if I need it to be unlocked or not as it could save me a couple hundred dollars. I do travel to other countries quite often. So far my friend has suggested the Sensation XL/XE. Suggestions?

If you don't like the plastic feel then you should go for HTC like your friend suggested. However the Galaxy S2 And the upcoming Galaxy Nexus are amazing phones. I would suggest you still wait for the Galaxy Nexus and go for it. Hope this helps

Ever tried an Apple phone? As much as I think Macs are rip-offs with an apple sticker on it, the iPhones and iPod Touches are the best products Apple ever made. The Retina Display is really worth its weight in gold, the build quality is amazing, but fragile. The App support is sick, you can jailbreak it The support for market peripherals like projectors, printers, keyboards, are endless. Sure you wont stand out from the crowd, when 90% of the people on the train are using iPhones, but there is a reason why so many people are. And with the iPhone 4GS, it is a lot more powerful than the other phones on the market. And Siri is plain fun.

For Android, I recommend the HTC HD phones, those are very good. But, I much prefer the new Windows phones, which look sleeker in terms of interface.

Yeah I heard they're nice and fast, but as a mobile device I really would prefer a nice strong chassis over something that is slightly faster. The 1280x720 screen on the new Nexus caught my eye though.

Well see that's the thing. Last time I tried to use my uncles iPhone with my Hong Kong sim card, it wouldn't connect to any network. So I'm confused as to whether or not I need an unlocked phone or not. My friend says carriers sometimes do tend to lock their phones just to be *******s.

If you want a nice strong feeling chassis then i think its HTC or Apple iPhone 4S for you. I own a SGSII and can vouch for it though its speeding but somewhat plasticy going to get a case soon to add weight to it though.

The best phone currently on the market is the Lumia 800.

Sources say it will launch in Hong Kong by the end of the year. God help anyone who doesn't think that is the most beautiful creation currently in existence.
