Same thing happened to me.

Steam never replied and blew me off entirely.

Also, in the future I suggest your Wife not have access to your Steam account.

Anyway, provide Steam with ALL the ebay transaction information. That includes communication with the seller, documentation that he refunded you after you asked about the origin of the game, etc. Response time in my experience has been a couple days but they were helpful with a DLC issue I was having.

Just keep calm, stay patient, and do your due diligence with the documentation. It should all work out in the end.

Steam has its pros and cons but getting your account suspended can largely be avoided by not doing things like the OP's wife did. Most of the software sold on ebay is not legitimate, and for you nitpickers out there, by most I mean 50%+1.

This is a situation that no Steam user has to find themselves in. I have over 200 games on Steam, I use a strong password that I change periodically, I don't buy or install pirated or illegitimate software, I don't log onto Steam on random computers that may be infected, I keep my computer malware free, and I don't give out my Steam details to anyone.

If you follow those rules it is very, very rare that you will ever have an issue.
All I told her was that the guy was a scammer. I didn't tell her the whole suspended and stuff. I told her I got the money back as well.

Did you open multiple tickets or try hard to get a hold of them?

Does anyone have a clue where steams support is located..just wondering when they open.

Did they tell you how long the suspension would last? They usually just ban accounts in situations like this.

It not the out of region key sites, its possibly a code that was bought with stolen info.

I quit using Steam 2 years ago after a similar experience. I still buy games, but I always "get around" the DRM. I always buy hard copies of games now, and just tend to stay away from Steamworks games unless I really want to play them.

I don't even have steam installed on this PC.

No I have had no contact with them what-so-ever thus far.

I don't have any issues personally with either, other than I like steam's chat.

I have never needed to get around DRM or anything else for that matter, I never suspected something like this would happen, and its clearly not steams fault. Like has been said, its most likely this guy on ebay used a stolen credit card....and whats steam supposed to do, just allow it? I just hope they are reasonable and see that I clearly am not involved in anything like that.
