My steam account was suspended. (Issue Solved) - Page 9

I wonder if the people who used the leaked DiRT 3 keys got their Steam account banned.

Remember when the Nvidia store website had the Metro 2033 for free mistake? Steam just revoked the games from everyone's account with no bans or suspensions.

The game key must have been traced back to be purchased with illegal funds to have the account suspended.

He would easily spend more than $800 on legal fees, plus the amount of time it would take to get settled makes that highly impractical.

No big loss. Lets the better gamers get on.

Hope you make it back on, amigo. I miss having a decent target to take shots at...

emotional damage? no. lawsuit for the costs of the games, yes and would be easy to win.

i used one of those and gave away 5 or 6 more. no one was banned, it was legit.

small claims is $20 to file and if they no-showed(which they prob would do) they would loose and a default judgment would be issued. then he would have to file a lien against them to get paid which they would otherwise they would have a bench warrant issued for failure to comply with court rulings.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. If they are obfuscating their support process, send multiple emails to multiple people. Open a new steam account and submit duplicate tickets, etc. Of course give them a chance to respond in a reasonable amount of time through their "official" channels.

Eloquently explain the issue and let them know you are very concerned about getting the issue resolved. I would absolutely not accept losing my account over something like this. Most of the people they are dealing with are probably kids.

I'd be professional and to the point. Give me my stuff back. Now.

Maybe it is actually not a big deal.

The only thing more ironic is people hating Steam that then use the Steam copycat application by EA.

If you end up getting screwed like I did, you might have a change of heart about it.

I don't think its right to subject the consumer to a set of rules that can deny access to products they paid for. Many of these games don't even require online multiplayer, and they only funnel you through steam because they use it as a DRM. Only the people who buy the games are subject to DRMs, pirates get around the DRMs. So it has absolutely no effect on mitigating piracy, and only subjects a form of control over the gaming market that IMO isn't justified. Steam is about control of the market, and control of the products.

You see that is a common misconception, is that you lose the game, you don't actually lose them if they are installed on your computer. A file the size of a few KBs solves the problem.
What number did you contact them at?

I would file for small claims court and I am not looking to get rich...just get my money/games back, nothing more.

My wife actually paid like $24 for it, vs the $40 steam wants. She had no clue people were using ebay to scam for things like this. I have bought retail games on ebay....so I don't think this is quite as prevalent as like the Nigerian scam you know?

Again small claims court should be able to take care of this, unless in their EULA it says, they can do whatever without paying you.

Well I am 30, so that's kind of why I wanted to get them on the phone, I could probably talk to someone rationally and get some where, I am afraid they will just ban me and say who cares.
