Assuming 7200RPM, great data HDD when combined with a SSD OS drive.

It is a 5.4k, but they are very quiet, and great for data drives. Not so much OS. I actually have Steam and Origin installed on mine. Loads faster than my Raptor once the initial game is on memory Transfer rates are good, it's just the lower seek times.

The drive for sale in this thread will undoubtedly be faster.

I have someone who is selling me a new WD Green 2TB SATA III (6Gbps) for $80 but I might just go to Best Buy and pick this up but I have a question. Will SATA III (6Gbps) make a noticeable difference for a HTPC? bearing in mind I will eventually get an SSD as boot drive for HTPC.

I might stream movies between desktop and HTPC and I was thinking it might help wih that but if I have to pay a premium for SATA III is it worth it? What do you guys think?

These make awesome storages and backup drives. They aren't fast but they are quiet which is what I like. Reviews are showing that some people tried to use this as a boot drive and that is not the purpose of this drive.

With hard drives the sata II vs sata III is just a marketing ploy. The best hard disk drives we have today do not use up all of the sata II capacity. What does make a difference is the RPM of the disk. Higher is better.
