Help with audio upgrade.

Hello gents. Right now I'm using Klipsch Promedia 2.1's as my computer speakers. I really like them but soon I will be able to have more room for bigger and better speakers so I'd like to purchase some to use with my computer as that's what I listen to all of my music with, and I will just keep my Promedias to use with a TV as TV speakers generally suck.

I know that speakers such as the Bx5a's, AV40's, and A2/A5's get a lot of recommendations, but how much better are these than my Promedia's? I know that I will also need a new subwoofer and possibly an amp for passive speakers as well.

I listen to mostly alternative rock with quite a bit of electronic/dubstep. I would also like to keep this under $400 total, but my budget is flexible as long as the sound quality is truly worth it. Thanks in advance for any help.
