Im just wandering how much I could recoup from my parts, getting the upgrade itch. parts are :

i5 750 (£140 new) , been ran at stock volts at 3.6GH for most of its life but more recently 4GHz using dynamic vcore.

GA-P55M-UD4 matx motherboard (£140)

corsair xms3 1600mhz c8 2x2gb (around £100)

these parts I have owned for approx 1 and a half years but havent really been used much, just for casual gaming and web browsing, music etc.....never stressed except for testing. always kept below 75c while testing.

then my approx 1 year old SLI GTX 460 Hawk Talon Attack models. (£160 each on offer)

all estimates appriciated. in GBP £ please

Your looking around £80 for the I5
About £60 for the mobo
£35 for the ram
£100 per 460

ill rep you once i get to my laptop, iphone wont let me rep. cheers.

I agree with the cpu and ram prices, but that low for the mobo? its the best matx p55 board except for the maximus gene, which isnt any better really, just has more features.

finally i also thought the 460s, since they are the best 460s around maybe £115 each?

Hi

The CPU you're probably looking at around £60-£70.
The RAM I'd say £30-£32.50.
GPU's - Probably £80-£85 a piece, HD5850's go around £75-£85 and these IIRC perform slightly better than the GTX460's don't they? PLus £100 is around HD5870 territory.

GL.

hmm. i think im probably better off just keeping my hardware then, since the cost of a similar performing parts is practically double these estimates. thanks once again.

think ill watercool my rig and get a great small case for a matx beast htpc

Hey man, i just sold my i5-750 and MSI-P55-GD65 for 140Euro (400GBP new)

and i'm having trouble selling my Corsair Dominator GT's @ 40Euro (259GBP NEW)

Also having trouble selling my water cooled GTX 285's @ 200Euro for 2 (350GBP EACH NEW)

Thing is, with the p67/z68 platforms being SO freaking cheap its pushing down the prices of everything else, either decide if you want to cut your losses or, keep the stuff, (it will still play games at decent rates)

So my estimates (or what i'd be happy paying/receiving)

Mobo + CPU - 120/140GBP or 180 with Ram

GPU's - 80 Each (if that...) they are good Gpus' ideally selling for 100 each but for 200 you can get a brand new 560ti / 6950...

yea your right think its just best to keep everything untill any upgrade is really worth it. ill probably keep this rig untill it cant cant keep up. I cant justify taking such a loss on parts that are still reletively new and giving high performance. you see it
was my birthdat recently and I was given £200, so i was wandering what I could sell, then add the £200 to upgrade, but its just not worth basically wasting £200 + whatever my loss would be - for a minor upgrade.

my rig is quite loud you see since its matx, so was considering buying a gtx 580, but the total spent doing so would just be pure madness lol.

I look at it like this, i spend £320 on my gtx 460s, which out perform a £400 580. So if I made a loss of £120 on the cards, then added another £200 ( to have £400) for a 580 lightning or something similar - the total spent is £520! mental.

If I had of gotte maybe £250 in total it wouldnt
have been soo bad, sice then the total spent would
not have been as much of a loss, maybe paying £470 in
total for a 580.

I think im better just watercooling my rig with the money, maximising the performance and making it quiet

Hey man,

I know how you feel, i'd keep your cards, they are really good,

What i'd do in your situation is sell the Mobo and CPU - 140ish coupled with the 200 you got given,

you'd have 340ish,

I got an i5-2500k and ASRock Fatality P67 for 330!

you can then use your ram in the new mobo and the gpus,

I think for 300 ish an upgrade to Sandybridge is a NO BRAINER!

hmm yea ive thought about that one too, getting an atx this time to keep the top card quiet. hmmm food for thought, but my cpu is fast enough for me, i still view spending 200 for a minor upgrade a waste. if i watercool the system then ill always have a water cooling system, and get a really high clock rate on everything from here on, and quiet too.
