Having a few issues - Really need help!

Hey guys,

So I've been having a few issues lately and I would really love some good, knowledgeable answers.

Issue #1 - I cannot OC my CPU. I OC to my sandy stable overclock (4.6 GHz, 1.45 volts) which I did a 12 hour run, and a 8 hour run. Now, every time I run these settings, I will freeze eventually on Windows Welcome screen or within 30 seconds of it. I put my CPU to complete stock, and I havnt froze ever. Played over 80 hours of BF3, computer constantly on. I used to run the 4.6 GHz stable settings for a LONG time, then it just recently started freezing constantly. Like as if it were degrading, or slowly dying, or possibly dead.

Issue #2 - Rubber Banding in BF3. I CONSTANTLY am rubber banding. Getting caught up in the ground, making me step back a couple steps, then continue running. It would run, then get stuck, then run, then get stuck, fairly often. I hear its mostly BF3's problem, and a connection problem, but my brother is on the same connection through the router and he "apparently" never gets rubber banding. He has a better system then me. Cossfire 6970's. I don't know if hes lying, or what, but I get it often. Is this a issue with my computer at all? Video issue?

Issue #3 - SC2. I've been playing BF3 completely perfect. No video crashes, no blue screens, no driver crashes, perfect. I'm on STOCK CPU settings (3.4 GHz or whatever), and overclocked GTX 570 to 1100 volts, 900 core, 2000 memory. I've played BF3 now for about 85 hours with these settings. I'm also using the newest driver from Nvidia, the 285.62 full release. Yesterday, I went on SC2. Played the first game fine, second game fine, third game my game like minimized, GPU fans turned off, settings got reset on GPU overclock, then the game maximized, and I continued playing. It basically just reset my video overclocks, but didnt crash the game. I set back my overclocks and tried to play another game. It did the same thing, but this time BSOD aswell after the settings reset in MSI afterburner. BSOD I think said 116 error code? It looked pretty different then a CPU BSOD. It had different error and letters and stuff. It didnt overheat, it was at around 57*C or so.

Issue #4 - Windows defaults to a certain color scheme to maximize performance. When I play BF3, almost every day, I get an error in windows that says something like "Windows has defaulted your color scheme to improve performance because it seems to be slowing down ur computer" or something like that, not sure. And it switches my window colors and task bar colors to like the light blue default one. I have no clue why this is happening, and I have no clue how to stop this. Please any help would be appreciated!

Issue #5 - PSU fan rattling. At first I had a very tiny rattle once in a while that was kinda hard to hear where it was coming from. Now It rattles quite heavily and loud sometimes. Usually when I'm playing BF3. Its really annoying and kinda scaring me. I don't like those sounds coming from my computer. Is this damaging anything? Should I replace the fan? Should I just go buy a new PSU anyways? I was going to SLI my 570's and get a corsair AX 850W, but when BF3 came out I realized I can easily run it on a single GTX 570 and runs really nicely. So I decided I don't need to SLI anymore because my card should be able to run every game coming out within the next year. Should I still replace my PSU? Kinda a waste ATM, but it would stop the rattling. Should I open the PSU up and tighten something? Should I get a new PSU fan?

These are all the issues I'm having lately. I would really appreciate some responses and help as much as possible. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. It seems like I'm having issues with lots of different componants so I dont really know where to post it.

Also, should I just RMA my CPU and video card? They are really annoying me, my CPU blows, and it seems like my video card sucks too. I feel like just returning both of them and getting new ones because these suck at overclocking and dont work properly.

Thanks everyone, hope to hear responses soon!

Have you updated bios for the OC issue?

Have you run network diagnostics?

What graphics drivers are you running?

Are you running an AV, AMW, Firewall? When was last time you ran a boot-virus scan?

I would give memtest86 a shot. Freezing/BSODs, and Windows choosing graphics schemes to maximize performance...Could be your RAM.

http://www.memtest86.com/

Also, not sure if it's causing problems you mention, but your vcore seems a bit high for 4.6ghz. Have you already determined that lower vcore won't run that clock speed?

As for BF3, rubber-banding is a software/server issue, I think. Happens to people regardless of their rig.

BIOS update isnt possible. It conflicts with my mouse/keyboard. I've tried it.

Not sure what a network diagnoctics is. I've done many speed tests though and it seems to be perfectly fine and fast speeds.

I said in the OP my nvidia driver is 285.62 latest full release.

No anti virus, dont know what AMW is, and just the normal windows firewall. Nothing crazy, I don't really put much effort in the whole virus stuff. Never ran a boot-virus scan. How do I do that?

I forgot to mention I ran a 9 pass memtest. My vcore is extremely high for my OC, but I cant run stable 12 hours without that amount. Seems like my CPU chip is just awful I really want to RMA it. Its been nothing but problems!

But I ran a 9 pass memtest, could it still be my RAM?

Try the whql drivers before 285.62. It's 280.26.

I've tried many drivers. I was using the 285.beta one, the 280.26. All had problems.

I'll try taking out a ram stick and doing that test that the other guy mentioned.
