Convince me to switch to android

Thread Starter
I currently have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5. I'm very happy with it.

I have 6 gigs of apps, and roughly 12 GB of music.

I love iMessage, the notification is sweet, and I love having everything I need from music, to awesome browsing experience, an amazing integrated map application for on the go, and I love the plethora of applications anywhere from racing games, Tapatalk, first person shooter zombie games, you name it.

Im very happy with my phone, but at the same time, bored

I was thinking maybe I would like a samsung galaxy SII

I don't wish to buy an android outright, but rather willing to trade my iPhone 4 32GB black.

Is it worth the switch?

If you're happy with the iPhone... why switch?

Buy a cheap Android handset like a Desire to fiddle with if you want, see if you like what you find.

iphone positives - guarantee the app you downloaded has been screened to work on your device (I like to call this "iStupid - brought to you exclusively from Apple as our one exclusive feature across all platforms.".). Apple exclusive software that is most likely copied and renamed from content you have been able to do on other OS's for years. apple supported integration over all apple hardware (can be done fairly easily with Android/Linux distros/windows as well but isn't "included").

Droid positives - superior hardware, if there is a will to do something people are working on it to make it happen, multiple app markets but not a guarantee they will work on your device unless someone fixes it, not apple.

i switched from the GS2 to the iPhone 4. loved it already, just because everything works. on my gs2, i was rooted with a custom rom, and even then the phone wasn't that great. sure the hardware is there, but the apps and software were not. my iphone 4 was jailbroken running iOS5 and it is great. i think you need quality apps before you can claim about a quad core CPU in a phone. i would say if you don't like the iphone, try android before you make a switch. i was running the newest android stuff and didn't like it. now this year old single core iphone is kicking ass, and i think what makes it great are the apps.

The only reason is if you want to.
If you like to have the experience enough you'll try it no matter what.
Everything gets boring after a while its up to you to do something.

I went the other way and wish I could go back.

Lost my OG Droid at the county fair on one of the rides this summer and ran to the Verizon store. Apparently they didn't put insurance on it which I knew I specifically asked for at least a dozen times because of my job, and the lowest cost replacement cost was the iPhone 4.

Some of the things that get me most are the ability to store files on the SD card... regardless of file type, being able to place app icons where I want to, Google navigation, apps are easier to find, FLASH, etc...

At any rate I am trying to trade my iPhone 4 for an android based phone locally, I don't like it one bit but it does what it's supposed to do I guess.

With Android, you won't be bored. Nuff said.

The main reason I switched from my 3GS to my SGSII is because I was bored.. iOS is SOOOOO BORRRRIIINNGGGG. Even with a Jailbreak things still feel half-assed. I think the community on android is much more talented when it comes to customizing the phone, I've had the phone for 2 weeks and I'm truly blown away by the customization options!

I'm not sure why people are saying the Android market is bad? If you buy a new phone everything will work on it... if the App doesn't work then it wasn't a good app in the first place (lack of developer support for the app). I was DREADING the Android Market Place but honestly I think it's quite a bit better than the AppStore, every device I've ever tried the appstore on has been clunky as **** and slow, whereas market place is quite fast on my SGSII!

Also, Android phones have better Battery life, not necessarily due to the fact that the battery/software is better (In most cases it's slightly worse), it's because you have options (yay!). I bought 2 1650mha Batteries and a wall charger for said batteries for my phone on Amazon.ca for $9.99. For my 3GS I bought a juice pack when they came out and it was $79. If I really needed to, I could go 8 or 9 days with these batteries and proper power management, while still using the phone efficiently.

So far Android is pretty awesome, and theres tonnes of things to do with it.

I'd say jump the boat.
