IMO DD-WRT isn't really a great jumping point into networking for someone who "don't understand in router settings at all.." However, if you must then please do some research.
agreed, theres alot of things you have to research, imo, it was all pretty interesting stuff. But like atomic frost said, if you dont know what youre doing, you could brick your router, granted, i flashed ddwrt when i still didnt really know much about networking and my router flashed fine

I also agree that while DD-WRT is a great tool, it is only necessary if you find yourself wanting more from your router than the stock firmware provides. I have found my routers to be hit and miss when it comes to reliability compared to stock firmware so personally I don't find that to be a valid reason to change.

You need to read up on what you want to do and how to accomplish it. Once you have mastered the settings in your stock firmware, THEN you will know if you need/want to move to DD-WRT. But if you install DD-WRT now, you can completely ruin your router inadvertently. In your situation, I wouldn't do it until you understand exactly why you are moving to DD-WRT.

By the way does it matter what modem i have? Im mean now i have modem+router in 1 box,
and i got another old modem (just modem) so will there be any difference?
And anyone have any idea what firmware version is the best for DIR-615?
