2xgtx 580 with 850w ? - Page 3

A good 750w can handle two.

From their site:
Maximum Graphics Card Power (W): 244 W

A single GTX580 uses ~220W in games (OC'd use up to 280W in games)

Here's a Asus Mars II 3GB (with two slightly OC'd GPU's) and in games it uses 460W- Avg and 500W- Peak..

So yes that PSU can handle a GTX580 SLI as it has 828W on 12V+ rail (69A)..

CHEERS..

And just fine, with OC's. A quality one, anyway.

I plan on adding a 2nd on my PSU.

Here's my wattage draw with 1 580 @ 941mhz/1.125v

Gaming BF3 on Ultra: ~430w > 87% = 374w
F@H max Load: 456w > 87% = 397w

Obviously even a 2nd heavily OC'd 580 will be fine just fine.

Oh yeah, the cards should run with an 850watt power supply. But I as well Recommend at least a 1k watt, I went the 1.2k way. It also depends on what your other components are. If your running lower end thing it'll be fine but if you have 16gig's of ram 2 hd's and a good cpu your going to need more watts.

Here are some good units for you.

XFX PRO850W XXX Edition Semi-Modular 80 Plus Silver $170 Shipped. $140 after MIR.

XFX Core Edition PRO850W $144 Shipped. $114 after MIR (USD MIR?)

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX850 V2 $148 Shipped. $138 after MIR.

Rosewill Lighting Series 800w $159 Shipped. That's a great deal for a Gold Class/Modular... I can't find a review though. Looking.

Personally I wouldn't be afraid to grab a great 750w unit, I mean.. I'm going to have another extremely OC'd 580 Lightning Xtreme on here soon and I know I'll face no problems....

Also already price referenced with NCIX, Newegg wins out here, mainly because of those MIR's.

850W should be good. Try getting one of the models from the OCN recommended PSU list. If you fold or BOINC 24/7 you might think about getting a 1kW for more efficiency.

i will throw my 2 cents in on this, go with the corsair AX850 =) awesome psu and more than enough power to run 2 580's
