motherboard hits 123c =/

Ok, so I tried overclocking my cpu, I really have no idea what Im doing. All I did was change the multiplier to 45 and got 4.5g. Then I ran prime95 for 45 min, cpu temp went to 68c which seemed ok but my mobo hit 123c. Anyone know whats going on here?

What are you using to read it? Software? if so HWmonitor reads my mobo as the same thing and i can touch my mother board. so yea its just a software issue if you are using it.
Small wonder.

I am no expert when it comes to overclocking either, but maybe you have a faulty temperature sensor? When you change your CPU back to the stock speed, what temperature is the motherboard?

Which part of your motherboard reaches that temperature?

That definately sounds like a faulty sensor / bad reading

It's a bad sensor. Is it AUXTIN by any chance? Mine reads as 2c or 1c, on my old board it often read as 123c, 0c, -123c, etc
post #6 of 9
Sounds like a false reading. There is no way your motherboard would actually get that hot, so you probably have a malfunctioning sensor. My old AM2 motherboard had the same thing, a random reading would show up with a random 130C reading every once in a while, it was harmless.

As long as the computer stays stable, you're good.

It was a reading from the Asus suite. Is there any preferred software for monitoring mobo temps?

Well its user preference, i tend to use HWMonitor and Asus suite. But you can use anything you like. I would defiantly recommend HWMonitor, but thats just me

It wouldn't be running if it had hit 123C. It's an error.

HWmonitor shows 127C for all my motherboard sensors on my P67 board.
