BF3 Problem, what is going on?

Thread Starter
Sometimes the game will run beautifully smooth, but then sometimes it will feel like I am getting 15fps, when fraps is saying I'm getting 40+. Its is so bad its nearly unplayable. Its worse then lag.

What really doesnt make sense is I used fraps to record it, but the video is smooth and looks nice?

if there's a background window (such as a chat message box popping up) this will happen.

If you're using FRAPS it could be studder because you're recording. It's accessing system resources including the HDD.

Stop using FRAPS to view your FPS, and see if that helps.

You can view your FPS in game by opening up the console and typing: render.drawfps true

It will pop up your FPS on the screen. When you're done just do the same thing but use false instead.

Using fraps to monitor fps wont impact performance. You might be just experiencing fps dips due to having a dual core otherwise there might be some background tasks going on thats causing this. Go to your task manager and try and sus out what could be causing the problem. You could also try killing some user based exe's but thats really down to the person.

P.S. According to benchies bf3 isnt cpu dependant, well in MP there is a huge difference between a dual and a quad FYI.
