On socket 775 only nvida boards have sli support the others only have crossfire support. You would have to use the sli patch to get it to work like others said.

Ohhh gotcha. I'm going to see how much of the 4870's a P4 can handle

This. Talk about a bottleneck. Would be just as bad with 8800GT's in SLI though....

And no, I honestly don't THINK that your 8800GT and 9800GT Green will SLI together. Normally it would work fine, but you've got the Green Edition card, which means its a G92b for sure. If it were a standard G92, you could've just flashed one of the cards to match the other and it would've worked fine.

Actually 8800GT is not possible to SLI with 9800GT - different cards. They might have the same specs, but the cores are totally different. The transistors are of different nm and use different micro current.
check the gpu-z of the cards.

if the 9800GT is not the G92b, flash to 8800GT, if the 9800GT is G92b, flash the 9800GT to a non-G92b 9800GT bios.

not true at all.

MANY 9800GTs were DIRECT re-brands. Sometime you could even peel the old stickers off. In fact my GF has a BFG 9800GT 1GB, and underneath the top serial sticker is the serial sticker for when it was a 8800GT 1GB. However, they did do a die-shrink mid-run, the G92b core. Same exact core, but smaller process.

Not true. G92 was rebranded several times. 8800GT = 9800GT. 8800GTS 512 = 9800GTX = 9800GTX+ = GTS250. All are DIRECT rebrands.

It just matters if you got an original G92, or a G92b. (65nm vs. 55nm)

Well, there were PCB revisions here and there, but yeah, same GPUs, just different process size.

For instance. 8800GTS 512MB PCBs are different from 9800GTXs, even tho they have the same core. Ironically, the 8800GTS 512MB PCB looks closer to late-run 9800GTX+s and GTS250s, lol.
