So, expected 30% IPC improvement over Llano AND it's clocking 900MHz higher (stock of course) ALREADY? Can't wait for Komodo then... might even hold off building until then, though it seems the waiting game is a game always lost. BTW, the game.

The problem is the majority of programs now use FP intensive tasks, which would be something very good to pawn off on the "gpu" portion of trinity.

Anyways, the Trinity APU's moving to a new socket seems like a good move to me. Keep improving on the *sucessful* (key word right there) stuff and if it needs an extra pin or 2 to get results like that then its very well welcome.

I wonder about the dedicated GPU card combination with these as FM1 had to have like a 6570 or something? Trinity seems interesting but after Bulldozer, can't get my sights up for AMD.

Let's not get it twisted and throwing words out there.... Never did it say 30% IPC increase.....

30% UPLIFT* Based on "Projections" in a Multimedia workload and are subjected to change. I believe i remember early BD projections of being the fastest single and multicore CPU ever created, and even later, as of a few weeks before release, that IPC would go up from k10.5. Neither happened.

A higher base clock & turbo clock probably account for the large majority, if not all of the % of performance increase.

As for comparison, it's completely subjective.... rolleyes.gif

The current highest clocked Llano is 2.9ghz, with the newest Trinity's turboing up to 3.8ghz.....

With AMD's extreme cherrypicked projections, i guess 30% is a best case scenario for 30% increase in clocks.... Which is good and bad.

On a positive note, if those projections are accurate it would bring the mobile PD core on par with Llano core. This should translate with desktop PH2 and PD comparisons.

We may finally get our 32nm PH2 x8 next year.
