Now if only VLC would get cracking with that Android port...
Early alpha VLC was horrendous. Stick to DICE Player for now, it's very good when it comes to 720p playback on my current Transformer.

True. While I'm not disagreeing with you that support for high-profile would be nice (though I have a very difficult time seeing quality differences), however the practicality of storage options at the moment makes such high-bitrate/large files irrelevant in terms of having hardware capable of decoding/playback.

Profiles (and levels) are about more than just bitrate, they're about features. With a High profile, you can get a better looking encode at the same bitrate of a main profile encode. Or you can get the same looking encode, at a lower bitrate. If anything, High profile support is a MUST for mobile devices with 720p+ screens simply because of the storage saving possibilites

It doesn't need to be just for playback either, they could implement it into the camcorder and either produce better quality videos, or make them smaller

Oh, those are great points, I hadn't considered them before.

This is definitely going to be my first tablet. Apparently, it appears that it will be a soft launch on November 9th with it not being sold till a couple weeks after the event which sucks.

Why not just get a laptop? Battery life is going to be not-so-great and you're limited by Honeycomb when it comes to anything work related. Do you really want 4 cores for Netflix, Angry Birds, all other games or an Office suite?
