AMD Phenom II 1090 Thuban Overclocking - Page 3

yappy, I think that's way too high of a temp for that chip.

yuksel911, I have 2 Elpida which are 2 GB each, and 1 Toshiba which is 1 GB. The clocks are 9-9-9-24-33- 2T.

dave12, yeah it blue screened on me with your settings, so you are probably right about the memory coming unstable. I won't be able to push this chip to 4.2 GHZ, huh?

high temp for the chip??? or high voltage for the chip ?

it never goes over 30c when running prime95... it idles at 19c-21c

i think that is pretty good temp.

what is considered good temp for my cpu ???

the voltage is a bit high, but it doesnt seem to want to be stable without it. so im leaving it at that. could other things cause unstability than low vcore?

Well, looks like my chip isn't stable yet at even 3.9 GHZ. It blue screened on me at 4.0 after an hour or so, then I set it to 3.9, and it only lasted like a half hour. Ugh... what the hell can I do? Now it's set at 3.8 GHZ.

I don't know how your mobo likes OC'ing. It may or may not be able to do 4.2+, or it may require more volts than air cooling can handle. What code are you getting with your BSOD's? Can you give a full run down of specs?

And take that third stick of RAM out, that's ridiculous and it isn't helping get that thing stable.

I'm running it right now at 4.2 GHZ at 1.5250 volts. How high can I take this processor to in volts? I'm not sure how stable it is at this time.

Generally 1.55v is accepted as the max safe vcore, although I wouldn't push it even to that point on air. Realistically you're probably better off just settling for 4.1 or 4.0 GHz. My old 1055T refused to go above 4.1, even with a good custom water loop. I could pass a 24 hour prime95 run, then have it BSOD at the desktop. Stability is a fickle thing.
