2.5" Multidrive RAID, SSD later

hey guys,

wanted to get some input on a setup I am planning on migrating to (after prices on HDDs drops again).

As you can see from my sig, I have a mATX Rampage II Gene and a mini P180B. For those of you not familiar with this setup, the Gene has onboard raid (Meh...) and the P180B only has a few 5.25" bays.

I currently just set my main HDD (160Gb 7200RPM 3.5" Seagate) in the top 5.25" bay.

What I want to do now is get one of these (http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=114):

With two Momentus XT 500Gb hard drives (the hybrid ones).

I'd like to run them in RAID 1 with my onboard controller.

Down the road, I'd like to add a dedicated SSD for my OS, to make a total of 3 drives.

Is this a fairly reasonable request from an onboard chipset and configuration like mine?

Thanks guys

I guess its not that complicated of a setup.

I am just surprised more people don't try something like this. That bay device looks very nice. I don't really have a lot of media on my box (hence, why 160gb has lasted me almost 5 years), so 500gb should be plenty.

I am more concerned about load times, while still not wanting to break the bank with SSDs.

RIGHT?!

People with mad money can have a really nice and convenient way to store their drives.

For me, 3/4 populated with RAID 5 on the 500gb drives would be nice but basically a waste for what I use the system for.

I don't want 4 of anything in RAID 0, just too much of a waste of money.
