6970 DC II waterblock

Hi, nice to meet you all guys i'm new to this forum, and i wonder is the EK FC6970 V2 Nickel water block can really fit into the 6970 DC II video card, since my video card and the EK FC6970 V2 Nickel water block are both non-reference design, any idea or suggestion?

If the card and block are both non reference they should theoretically work. The EK site should have a bit more information on this matter though. Cheers.

Hey chris from what I've read from other user's on this forum is that it will not fit. You have to use the universal VGA blocks on the DC IIs.

example of one: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/12...?tl=g30c87s143

and you'll need these: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/55...ia_BMR-C1.html

but i fill up the cooling configurator form about this card, and send to EK, but they gave me a reply by saying this water block does not support my card, even though its website stated that it is design to fit in non-reference design card, with full cover even with backplate as well..........so confusing

There are all types of different designs for non reference cards. Every company can make their own. So just because its made for a non ref. 6970 doesn't mean it will work on yours.

is it really that a passive heatsink will cool down the vram during extreme oveclocking? i'm still skeptical about it, if i use a universal VGA block to cool my GPU, and passive heatsink to cool my vram, is there still other critical component i have to cool as well, based on DC II card.

it is so frustrated to come to know that it can't support my 6970 DC II cards, but i saw EK actually manufacture water blocks for Asus ENGTX 580 DC II cards, hope one day it will do this to support 6970 DC II in the near future.

A universal block and heatsinks is all you need unless you plan on over clocking extremely high. If you do just make sure there is a fan blowing over the heatsinks.

I think its a little past the 6970's prime for EK to consider making a one off for the DCII.

if using a universal block and having fans blowing the heatsinks would used up a lot of space, since i have plan to do 2 or maybe 3 way crossfireX, it would be nice if EK have plans on 6970 DC II card, which means i can squeeze every megahertz out of this DC II card more than the reference, well i think i just have to wait and see...........
