or.... you can scope them out... they are floating so shouldnt be to hard to get them out

Probably want to flush those out in case they accumulate in your pump (not sure if this is any real danger but it's probably not the best thing for your pump)

properly just disconnect my inlet to my res, blast out the the water run the rest of my distilled through it clean the res, and hope for the best with some fresh distilled.

Doh! I read "Goldfish" flakes... I was thinking of those little crackers

Another option would be to add a filter to catch anything that is left if you still have concerns after a full flush.
