lol as if MW3 pushed it more than MW2. A game like GT5 or Uncharted 3 is a better example of pushing a console.

I don't even game on my PS3. Tried a few games and wasn't happy with the graphics. But, I didn't buy it for gaming.

Just use it for media streaming.

The 100x better cpu of the PS3 can also manage graphics, so I don't know why PS3 games can't be superior graphically. Take a look at Killzone 3, 2 or Uncharted 2 & 3; there's no xbox 360 game that looks (or can look) like that.

Exactly. Console games are able to get way more done with older hardware just because every box is exactly the same. If there is one technical advantage the consoles have over PCs it is that. I still can't believe how long they have been keeping pace this generation. If you look at Gears of War 3 and then go look at some of the 2005/early 2006 360 games it almost looks like a different generation.

I think the Uncharted series is about the very limit that the PS3 could be pushed. I can't think of any visually impressive games for the 360 save the Gears series, but that game still doesn't impress me much.

I just wish the next gen consoles would hurry up and come up out so then PC games can start looking a bit more impressive.

I mainly use my 360 for netflix, although it requires xbl gold, its has a better user inter-phase than its ps3 counterpart and I can watch all my shows in 720p. other than that 360 will be strictly for Halo Anniversary =P

There's a reason why it looks better on PS3, even though it may not be clear.
The RSX is assisted in tasks that could be done much faster on a dedicated graphics card.

The Cell was locked down for PS3 five years before it launched when fully programmable pixel shaders did not exist yet.

This is the sole reason the 360, despite not existing in concept for 24 months prior(also the reason for RROD), is able to match and often exceed the PS3's capabilities.

Sorry but the industry disagrees with you(On Crysis 2-360):

The sway of tree-tops; the spray of a decorative fountain; the flames erupting from a burst gas pipe: incidental details that grab your attention for their quiet, shocking realism. Who knows how Crytek managed to squeeze Cry Engine 3 onto the consoles while maintaining such extraordinary level of detail? But this world sits next to Uncharted 2's as the most detailed and well-expressed yet seen on our TVs."

Quote:
destructoid: Naturally, the gameplay is all wrapped up with some of the most gorgeous visuals you'll see in a videogame.
Quote:
gameinformer: Crytek wisely sticks to the traits that made the first game successful while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of graphical fidelity.
Quote:
1up: Crysis 2 is just as visually impressive as its predecessor, even on PS3 and 360.

Quote:
gamezone: The game looks utterly stunning and is arguably one of the best-looking shooters on consoles. I'm still undecided whether Crysis 2 looks better than the original game, but the fact that there is a discussion about which looks better speaks volumes on what Crytek was able to accomplish with their engine.
Quote:
strategyinformer: Crysis 2 is bloody gorgeous, and by far one of the most polished games we've ever played. Watching the cityscape come crashing down around you in all its HD glory is quite the sight, especially in some of the more open areas midway through the main campaign. Whether you've diving across rooftops or making your way into the heart of an alien hive, it's all jaw-dropping throughout.
Quote:
gamerevolution: Somehow the team over at Crytek has found a way to make their sequel just as visually remarkable as the original and without the need to spend a fortune on a fancy new video card and extra RAM (on the console at least)
Quote:
msxbox-world: Crysis may have been the benchmark game on PC but for console owners there might be a new kid on the block as Crysis 2 really is a sight to behold.
Quote:
metro: Although Crysis 2 swaps an actual jungle for the urban variety, the level of near photorealism remains. Despite the impressive scale the attention to detail is second to none: from hedges that shed leaves as you run through them to the filtering of light through a half-destroyed wall. That all this is running on a middle-aged console, not a state of the art PC, only makes it more impressive.

Please don't get technical because you have no idea what you're talking about.

The 360 has 10mb of embedded RAM for storing the frame buffer... It's like an extra cache of memory for the graphics card.

I have both consoles, and own exclusive titles for both, fanboy of neither, and the PS3 hands down looks better visually, and displays alot of games in true 1080p while 360 just "upscales"
There are plenty of PS3 exclusive games that require a mandatory install to speed up throughput.

The use of Blu ray has nothing to do with visual quality. There are several instances were developers have to compensate for the slow read speeds of BD compared to a 12x DVD drive like in the 360.

Also, 360 and PS3 have very few native 1080p games... The overwhelming majority of their games are native 720p with a few exceptions below 720p and above 720p.

Source

So I don't understand where you got this idea that with only 512MB of total RAM, the PS3 can magically compensate for a 1080p frame buffer for most of it's games.

Consoles were multi-core before PCs were. Why do consoles need 4 cores anyway? I thought the mantra within the PC ranks was that most games don't take advantage of four cores+... Or is that something you only debate within your close elitist circles yet argue to the death when your precious way of life is threatened by an outside force... Hypocrites...

If anything is holding back any platform it's the PC, holding itself back and consoles.

The disadvantages of developing games for PC is that you have a dissemination of hardware and increasingly high-level programming language code that could otherwise be executed much faster if it were develop closer to machine code.

PC is holding back PC, and that's why it's becoming less relevant as a whole.
