Screen Tearing on GTX 560 Ti

Thread Starter
Experiencing a major issue with screen tearing with my GTX560 Ti. I have narrowed the issue down to the graphics card (or something associated). I currently own 2 different model monitors with which I was able to test.

I have a pair of Asus VE248H and a pair of BX2231.

Now, originally I had planned on using a single monitor setup as a single 24" is plenty for my purposes, but after connecting both Asus monitors I decided I liked the way they looked together.

I had recently built a second mid-grade gaming computer to allow for my guests to have a system to jump on when they come over, and decided to move that extra Asus monitor over to the new system. Upon switching, I came across an issue on my personal system, which is screen tearing.

Out of curiosity, I connected one of my older Samsung monitors at the same time my newer Asus was connected in an effort to gauge how bad it is on the two monitors. Out of amazement, the issue completely disappeared on both monitors. Perfect video and gaming without any tearing. I disconnected the Samsung monitor, and continued to watch a film that I was already into. Sure enough, the tearing is back with the single monitor setup.

So my issue is essentially regarding screen tearing and single monitor setups. Both monitors I have show the issue when connected individually, but together in a dual monitor setup, works great. I do not plan on using a dual monitor setup, thus the need for assistance.

I have also swapped out my 560 for a 460SE and 8800GTX and no issues with screen tearing. Put the 560 in another system and is shows the same symptoms as described above.

Could this be some weird setting or do we have a faulty card on our hands? It's the strangest thing I have come across recently.

Any help to fix this issue I am experiencing would be much appreciated.

NVIDIA: 285.62

On a side note, EVGA has already set up an RMA for me and they are stumped as well. Haven't sent the card in yet. I love troubleshooting and should this be a software thing, I would love to know for future reference.

Thanks in advance for your help, OCN!

I don't recall having the setting. Could you be referring to triple buffering? I have enabled that and it helps in games. I notice the tearing as well when dragging windows around on the desktop and playing full screen video.

It's just so weird that if I connect a second monitor, there's no screen tearing at all on either monitor! Blows my mind.

My original post states:

NVIDIA: 285.62

This would be the latest drivers.

Are you running MSI afterburner while testing the card? I have heard this can cause various problems for BF3.

No, I am not. Running everything stock while I troubleshoot. The issue isn't limited to games, but full screen videos as well. I can notice it while dragging windows around on my desktop too.
