About 2 years. I'm thinking about replacing them soon anyway. Although they appear to be working fine atm.

I thought a little bit about wildfire's ideas and thought of this.

The arrows beneath the green line aren't important in this picture tongue.gif
The green line is a piece of hard paper/plastic, which prevents the hot air from the GPU and HDD's from 'going down' again.
And since hot air rises, it should solve the GPU heat problem. Although it will still require temp testing for the CPU.

If this works, I would get best of both suggestions, I think xD

EDIT: Forgot to mention, HDD's are moved up in this case.

You might wanna remove the plastic. Cos the GPU you have doesnt just release heat, through the end, it also exhausts heat from the sides, which means you might be trapping heat below the GPU.

If you havent done so, install the HDDs, all at the bottom HDD cage. This allow the front fan to blow more smoothly onto the GPU area without obstruction. You can also get a higher CFM fan on the side.

Just so you know, I think some GPUs just run hotter than others. I got a 6970 Lightning before, and it ran at 85 degrees Furmark at 25 degree ambient. Technically, it was fine, but I found this temps to be unacceptable, so I "lied tongue.gif" abit to the store and got it switched with another one, that got 69 degrees at Furmark. You mights wanna reseat the GPU, though that might be a last resort.

The picture above your post is just a suggestion, not the way it currently is.
HDD's are already at the bottom. The GPU is getting too hot, so I want to find working solution.

The air shouldn't be trapped, since it can escape via the PSU and rear side of the GPU.

Also, what do you mean that releasing air at the 'end'? It should mainly be blowing air from the sides..

I'm not too sure about GPU's being different in the heat they produce. It could also be the case of badly applied TIM or something. Or the surface of the heatsink might not be perfectly flat.

Yes I have it running currently. It's blowing on top of the GPU.
But, removing the side panel made it about 12C cooler, which is quite a lot if you ask me.

That sounds promising, could you explain in a little more detail?

some amount of air flow might be bypassing the cpu cooler with that one fan running. not sure though.

That is a lot. I don't run my side intake fan on, because I found it didn't make a difference to my temperatures (at least with the stock fan).

12C is a big difference between having the side panel off and on I think, which makes me think you might have a problem with the intake fans? are they still the stock fans? as someone else said, try moving the hard drives up as much as possible to leave it clear for the air coming from the front panel to the GPU (it will probably affect your CPU temps but it would be good to test in any case).

Also, I don't run my top exhaust fans either, as I found again it didn't really help at all with CPU temps, so I blocked them off with black card and it seems fine (and I don't get dust falling in when the fans are off).

So I just run 2 bottom intake fans and the rear exhaust fan, then my GPU fans and PSU fan seem to work fine as other exhausts. This is just what works best for me though, and I'm not running any stock fans, they're all gentle typhoons

Hm I see. I thought you related that to the GPU problem tongue.gif Well trying certainly wouldn't hurt I suppose biggrin.gif

So you in short, stop using any unnecessary fans? I think it might be a good idea to indeed try the sidepanel without the fan running.

Moving the HDD's is something I'm gonna try for sure. It will probably improve intake.

Also yeah, I'm still using stock fans, although this might change in the near future ^^

@rocstar96: I think I know what you mean btw, removing the mesh from the sidepanel (for the sidefan).
I guess that would improve air intake as well.

Lots of things to try out! After dinner tongue.gif

Try the setup shown in the diagram below:-
a. case top rear fan - do not use.
b. case top front fan - as intake to supply fresh air to thermally dilute the warmed air going through the CPU cooler
c. do use your green 'partition' to prevent hot exhaust from card's front being recirculated into its fans
d. do not tinker with the PSU fan. It is designed as an intake fan to exhaust hot air through the rear. Reversing it brings no benefit and is likely to cause harm to itself. And, instead of competing air with the card, it will just emits hot air towards the card's intake fans. Just as bad!

oh damn, just remembered. I removed that damn foam on the front of the case. all the grills have a foam filter. Remove that stuff first and tell me how it opens up the airflow for ya
