1/2" od 3/8" ID, any performance difference?

So I'm going to using a 3/8" ID system, as I already have some parts salvaged from a Dell H2C, question I have is about the performance of a 3/8" ID system versus a 1/2" - is there one? is it much? also, 1/2" ID pumps seems to be availble in much high lph ratings, but have lower head, I'll just be cooling my CPU on this loop, with one 120mm rad (and probably will run the loop through a cooler with a TEC in it). How does a 600 lph 3/8" pump compare to a 1/2" with 1500 lph - would that be overkill in this loop?

last question, if I changed to a 240mm rad, about 40mm deep, would that mean I should get a more powerful pump?

there would be no real difference between 1/2" and 3/8" apart from maybe some small increase in head pressure due to the added pressure in the loop. for a cpu loop 600-800LPH would be enough for a good system, but i would advise you to get a larger rad than a small 120mm, a 240mm rad would be what you want at least especially if you are going to use a TEC

you could just get a D5 pump with a top that has g1/4 fitting, then you just screw in any barb/compression fittings for the tubing you want

No difference, there was some testing done over at Martins I believe, and for 3/8" and above, the differences were within the margin of error for the test. You only see any difference at all going below 3/8" ID.
