XMP produces interference through headphones

Thread Starter
Hi all,

Bit of a strange question,

I went to bios and changed my Corsair Vengeance memory timings to Profile1, which enables XMP mode...

but upon starting Windows, there is now an audible amount of interference coming over my headphones

Has anyone else expereinced this, or might know why it is happening?

Thanks

It might be some EMI, but it's not easy to find the culprit. XMP is nothing more but a set of timings, speed and voltage so you could manually set desired values and see how it goes. You could get the EMI due to the voltage (stress on VRM or whatnot), due to speed (radiated EMI or propagated thru the board), etc.

Check the timing/clock/voltage of your RAM.

XMP is just preset timings for a certain frequency.

Are you using the front-panel outs on your case, or the rear jacks? Modern computers have very little RFI inside them, and that XMP is a trigger for it is strange.

Hi am using both front and back at same time

I think the culprit may be the headphones, as the right headphone speaker is stopping and starting now

Bad cable probably. Cables on cheapo headphones die quick.
