Not likely. Stabilizing something like this and then making practical use out of it won't be for many many more years. Not to mention that these three elements would probably kill us all if used on us considering the rate of decay. They become a completely different element.

You never know. You really dont. What if this new elemnt (Cn) had some special property that.. I dont know... lets say sped up the decay of every other element or somthing... The implications would be insane.
Chemistry and physics are two fields pretty far apart. The guys responsible for this are probably chemists and not physicists.

Physics embodies chemistry. I said physics to be general since "it doesn't matter". For Ex: When we realized that things can go faster then the speed of light. People said.. So what?

Yes, every single chemist, doctor, and physicist on Earth should stop doing anything for the advancement of knowledge and work on the same thing until it is resolved. That will end so very well.

What will be bad for AP students is when we hit the island of stability.

Then where? Protons repel eachother except over very small distances. A ball of hundreds of them would mean the ones on the outside of the ball are being repelled by all of the other protons in the ball, and only attracted by their direct neighbors. Without constant pressure from outside, the ball will fly apart like two magnets with the same poles brought together.

I don't know what can produce that much constant pressure. The core of a neutron star maybe? If so, the entire core can be thought of as a single 'atom', but that kind of system probably deserves its own name.

*edit*
It does have its own name: degenerate matter
