Trinity APUs contain a Piledriver core, the 2nd generation Bulldozer core. There can be up to 4 cores (preliminary info say either 2 or 4 cores), and there are various GPU configurations available. The package uses the new FM2 (904 pin) socket, so is not compatible with the FM1 package used by Llano. The on-chip graphics supports Direct X 11, and, like the Piledriver core, promises to offer a 30% performance increase over Llano chips.
Looks good so far, lets just hope the performance claims stand up this time. There's also a chart of CPU models on the source page.

bulldozer was slower then previous...hopefully pile driver at least matches...but im not getting mu hopes up

Piledriver needs a FM2 board, pass

Very good if true. AMD DESPERATELY needs to get clockspeeds up on their QC laptop APUs. 1.4 base, 1.6 QC turbo is just plain weak (Intel has i7's at 2.2 base now.. plus 40% faster clock/clock).

1.4 base --> 2.2ghz base on the slowest Trinity laptop quad is a 50% gain. Clock for clock it'll be at least as fast as Llano.

As for desktops, why bother waiting for something AMD at this point? They might deliver, but they're going to have to release Piledriver before Intel releases IB to become relevant again. (assuming Piledriver comes close to SB even).

edit: this is about Trinity, yall. Didn't say Piledriver uses FM2.

Sort of a repost, original source is Chiphell and there is a thread here in Rumors and Unconfirmed Articles with more pictures.

There is no proof for this yet.

AMD claimed that Trinity will be up to 30% faster than Llano. If Trinity has 50% higher clock speed, then this makes me suspicious that clock for clock Trinity will be slower than Llano

Well if bulldozer only had around 90% of the IPC that Llano/Phenom2 had, when you add the 10-15% IPC increase for piledriver over bulldozer; then this should be a higher clocked Llano/Phenom2. When I figure it like that then AMD's 30% improvement over llano is right on the money.

Rumor has it the so called IPC increase, is strictly because of higher clocks ( 3.8 vs 2.9 ).

Clock for clock it may be the same IPC.
