Trail/Tree Camera

Thread Starter
I was thinking about getting one of these for a Christmas gift for myself, I live in a fairly rural/forested area and have always wanted to know what has walked through my yard. Now I have seen a bunch at places like bass pro and other electronics/ outdoors stores but was wondering if any of my fellow clockers have any opinions on the matter.

My limit will be $150 give or take ( I can chip in the difference). I have personally seen a wild Turkey (a BIG Tom), Coyotes and recently heard what I can only describe as a big cat on the other side of my neighbors yard I think it was a Cougar but the debate continues in Ontario about how likely this is.
I have also been told a bear was spotted on my property a few years before I moved in and there are certainly Wolves, deer and Moose.

Things that matter to me would be:
Quality - I want it to take pictures and good ones not just look pretty in a tree
Weather - I would like to be able to use it on winter days up to minus -20C
Videos - Would be a bonus
Time Lapse
Battery Life
Night pictures
Audio - not required but could be cool
16gb SD card support

So let me know what you think also feel free to post your own Tree cam pics here.

I would look at a moultrie d55. I personally have 3 of these in my woods where i deer hunt. The picts are great. It has ir for night picts and it has video. Its on sale now at cabela's. I have gotten of birds flying by. The cuddebacks are the best cameras on the market right now but you pay a lot for them. One last quick comment i had my camera last year in the bottoms of our ground and it flooded and still took picts under water. The d55 is a great camera. Here is a link to camera.

Nice camera, nice price but I doubt I can get it here (CAN) for that much. That being said it's still in my price range. Have you had any experience with extreme cold weather? I would imagine it would effect battery life, but do they have a tendency to frost up?

Cuddyback makes great cameras. I've a moultree and 4 cuddybacks. Pictures are really nice when its light out. Night pictures are a little grainy but still pretty good.

Here in southern illionis we have days when wind chill is in the negatives -7 or so. Battery life seems to go down in cold weather. Example ill go check my cameras it will say low batt. ill bring them inside they warm up and same batterys will say 90% so ill take them back out.

I'll get a few pictures from this year on some of the cameras we have so you can see the quality of the different cameras. Looked through a few old folders and found a few pics where the temps were -30F so I know these cameras hold up in cold weather(central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin)
