2500k wont boot past 4.5 help - Page 3

Did you use offset or fixed voltage for your overclock?

I have tried both got it with offset right now.
What if you increase your bclk to 102.2mhz x 45 = 4599mhz and see if it boots with spread spectum changed from auto to disabled? On my asrock board, I can just use auto vcore and boot all the way upto 47x multiplier but I just cannot get the chip stable. My CPU cooler and power supply is holding me back so I'm staying at 4.3ghz for now.

LLC 3 & -.01 Vcc offset is too low..

Mine is stable at 4.6GHz, LLC 1, 1.38Vcc, SS disabled. It also boots @1.36 Vcc, but then Prime gives an error after a few hours.

You should be happy with it. Its not a bad overclock, and overclocking is never guaranteed.

The real problem is buying an expensive water cooling setup and expecting that to guarantee your chip to be a good overclock-er.

Remember, because you have watercooling you can run your cpu at 4.5ghz and feel very comfortable doing so. The watercooling will allow you to get more life out of your cpu, while overclocked, by keeping it stable and cool.

Alternatively, if you MUST have the best overclocking cpu around, then why not go through the hassle of an RMA, or selling it?

I couldn't post past 4,3 on the Asrock Extreme4 gen3. Got my Asus board and now im rocking 4,7 and going up hopefully.

Honestly think these ASRock boards are bugged. I've hearf lots of people getting walled at certain multipliers.

With watercooling I couldn't settle at 4,3. So I returned the board.

Ok I agree with you now Xylian I found a post on another site that said someone could not boot at 46 or 47 on there asrock but could at 48. Anyways I was like what the hell I will try it now I can get in at 4.8 but nothing between 4.5- 4.8 really weird stuff I may just return this board and go with something else.

Ok now its really weird I can boot in at 46 47 and 48 that's all I have tried but there all working now and I have not done anything I have not tried before. Really thinking of RMAing back to newegg see if they will let me pick up another board from another company.

Now I have a problem that my USB items act all funny but that was happening form the get go when I overclock the wireless adapter has to be repaired every time a boot.

Sounds weird yeah. I also had some problems with USB ports. And random bsods on stock clocks. All in all not happy with my former board. Good luck though

cbr600, did you read up in the ASRock P67 thread in the mobo section? I posted some bios settings that got me to 5ghz on that board. I can post them here to if you want to see if there's any differences.
