BSOD IRQL NOT LESS THAN when OCing

Thread Starter
Hello all, figured id check here to see if i may get some answers on this troubling problem i've been having as of late.

Problems been persistent since my pc has been built.

AMD 1090t, Asrock 870 extreme 3 mobo, nvidia geforce 560 ti twin frozr II, g. skill ram 8gb.

PC runs great at the stock speeds (3.2) but when i overclock to 3.8 it holds fine for tasking but sometimes (Rarely but does happen) it crashes when watching videos with the IRQL BSOD, as well as when gaming most typically gaming though. Happens without fail.

I was suspecting driver issues as when i did a perfmon /report it noted a bad ps/2 device and that it was not working and needed updated drivers but none could be found and to note i've never had a ps/2 keyboard.

I've even tried uninstalling it/disabling it and to no avail.

It makes me question wether its really a driver issue or something to do with my overclock note- my girlfriends brother is the one who built this PC for me.

Thanks all hope someone has even a little bit of insight into what's happening here.

When overclocking you should really be testing for stability with prime 95. If you want to make sure your fairly stable leave it for an hour. If you want rock solid stable it's gotta go for 12 hours. Usually when you get a blue screen you need to up the v core .

well start by upping your cpu in smaller increments. Raise it to 3.4 and run prime for 15 min. If its good then try 3.5. Do this until you blue screen or prime fails. Then up the vcore by the lowest increment available. Keep upping it till the cpu passes prime for 15min

Well my pc has the turbo mode so it can go to 3.6 id think its stable at 3.6 eh?

Also when i do a perfmon scan it notes a bad ps/2 driver, that could be caused by an improper overclock?

No I doubt that is caused by an overclock. You might try reinstalling your motherboard drivers if you have the disk. Or even go into device manager and just click update driver on the bad PS/2.
And yes there is a prime95 x86 and a prime95 x64. You want the x64 as you have a 64 bit cpu.

I've tried finding a newer driver for that so called ps/2 keyboard but it says it doesnt even exist and i cant unintall it.

Either way, i think i might have to underclock for the time being, I just ran prime 95 and overheated at 3.8.

Maybe look into getting an aftermarket cooler. I've had good experiences with the corsair a50. Also A lot of people swear by the cooler master 212+ .

Try dropping the frequency of your RAM, I'm assuming you're only using the Multi to do your OCing, but my IRQ BSODS were mostly down to RAM problems.
