Gaming Laptop Recommendations

Thread Starter
What is your maximum budget? Around 2500.

What country are you in? USA

What will be the uses of this laptop? Mostly gaming, some photoshop and video editing.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you? Dont care

What screen size do you require? doesnt matter

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay? Looking to buy new

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet) Doesn't matter

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings? Skyrim, COD, I hope on high settings

What operating system do you need? (if any) doesn't matter

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.) doesn't matter

How much hard drive space do you need? doesn't matter

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.) Would be nice if had hd webcam, otherwise I'll connect usb camera

Is there anything else we need to know? I was looking at a macbook pro, but unsure if it can run the games. also looking to buy at local store which has real good insurance policy so would like it to be more popular brand, but willing to look at websites if I have to.

You can take a look at sager laptops or even asus. They both seem great for gaming. But dont get Alienware. Too overpriced for what you get

Check out xoticpc, or malibal. But with a 2.5k price range you could pretty much get a Sager with a desktop CPU. If you're absolutely needing from retail chain options look to Asus brands at Best Buy. For your gaming needs you shouldn't settle for anything less than a GTX560m really(or equivalent AMD GPU).

6990m benchmarks.

Alienware is overpriced for everything. The exception to that rule is their Crossfire laptop, which is $2500... 100-150 less than Sager version.

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellsto...alienware-m18x

Two 6990m [Desktop HD6870s], i7 2670QM 2.2GHz (3.1GHz w/Turbo Boost), 4GB DDR3

EDIT: Noticed the SLI GTX 580m are just $150 more. I know thas over budget, but that's like ~$400 less than similar Sager unit. It is a good buy for the hardware.

Sager version.

[after thought] New higher-end AMD mobile cards [28nm] are coming next year, I'd be tempted to wait.
