How Does It Look

Thread Starter
I'm building a new pc for my mom who is an author and a business consultant. She needs a very reliable, fast pc so here is what im thinking...

Core i7 950 (no need to overclock it...)
Asus Rampage III Formula (1366)
4x2 (8 total) gb ram at 1600mhz
MSI Radeon 5970 (no need for a high end gpu?)
750W PSU
1TB WD Caviar Black 7200 RPM

tell me if this is good please thanks

You definitely won't be needing such a powerful psu.

But even a cheaper build would consult in a fast business PC, no need for an I7 or anything spectacular.

way fast enough. a cheaper i5 would do the job with a < 600watt psu.

an i3 SB system with a ssd (crucial M4 120 GB or higher) will work fine for her.

Wow.. I would imagine that would be overkill. At least the 5970 would be. I would save some money on the video card and maybe get a SSD. That would make it "Fast"

I agree on the SSD.
yea I would go with an i3 2100 and just like a 5450. 4gb of ram is fine, but an ssd would be a great addition.

I'd go with an i3 2100 and a z68 motherboard. That way you can just use the integrated graphics and cut out the gpu all together. A quality 550w psu should also suffice. For the drives I would recommend getting 2 of those drives and set up a raid1. That will mirror both drives and in case one goes bad everything is still on the back up drive.

Agree with this. Since she is an author, this could be a life saver.
