Wait, so what exactly is happening?

Video TDR errors.

Solution A (Recommended):

Roll back a few driver releases, that seems to fix it for most people, the new (beta mostly) drivers have been throwing out TDR errors like wild

Solution B (This is what I have done, mostly because I run some weird GPU based applications that have a delay before they send anything to be processed to the GPU, making TDR timeout go off.):

Edit the Video TDR timeout settings in the Windows registry to give a larger timeout window as per the Microsoft documentation here:

Solution C (Somewhat impractical):

Use Windows XP. It doesn't use this garbage system for monitoring GPU status, and therefore is immune to the issue. (Although you lose DirectX 11, and are limited to hacked Direct X 10)
