1.44v for i7 2600k @ 5Ghz? Acceptable? - Page 3

Prime and LinX are way more harsh on chips than any real world applications I've ever come across.

I stress test with Prime for 30 minutes. If the OC can handle that, it will do 24/7 3D rendering for days on end with 100% stability.

Anything more than an hour for Prime starts to feel like superstition to me...it's simply not representative of real workloads and CPU stresses that I've ever seen.

I agree with the guys above, please dont prime your chip for that long.. if you manage to get 4 hrs stable at under 1.4 call it a day and enjoy your gem of a chip

Okay so 1.39v failed as soon as i started prime. i tried 1.41 and it failed after 12 minutes. Then at 1.43v it passed the 3 hour mark and I shut it off. So I guess 1.43 w/ HT on 5.003Ghz. Im still new to overclocking as this is my first build and am learning as I go. If theres any tips I might need Id be glad to hear them. Overall thanks for the guidance! Cheers!

I do not know about how accurate this is, but my chip did 24 hours stable at 75C ish in prime 95, but as soon i let it rest for thirty minutes and opened firefox, it blue screened and crashed. and will also crash during games and from just being left on too long. so my chip can be kindof finicky.

If that's stable, your 2600K stomps my 2700K, congrats on the nice chip. You need 12 hours prime 95 stable in my eyes to prove stability. I've gotten4 hours and then had a crash before. Check out the Sandy Stable Club for more information. However, I don't see anyway you get temps of under 70 with an H80. My Silver Arrow is superior to the H80 and I get a max temp of 75 on one core with 1.385v at 4.8 GHz.

YEah burn that chip 55 days to see if it's stable.

On a serious note, once you did a 7-8 hours testing, you are good to go.
