Overclocked my FX-8120 to 4.94GHz ... have questions??? - Page 6

Just a thought....If you using Asus Turbo-V to overclock....did you know although the software and windows says 4.95ghz it actually only overclocks 1 CORE unless you change it for all cores individually. I made that mistake with my 1090t...thinking i had overclocked to 4.2ghz stable at 1.3v, untill i realised using cpu-z only 1 core was overclocked and the rest were running stock. Soon as I BIOS overclocked, performance shot up

Yeah, I'm not really sure why that was considered "suspect"..

My 1090T with DDR2 got 7.87 on water.

As for the OP, I wouldn't run a 32nm chip at that voltage 24/7. These chips are really unproven for voltage tolerances. Unless you want to be the first to either show it's ok, or show it's not (blowing up your chip) I'd dial it back to low 1.4v at the very most.

To the op honestly you did spend a arm and leg on your rig its a beautiful one but voltage matters only slightly temps are more the concern, but to be safe if you do go over 1.52 i wouldn't do it 24-7 and remember if your chip dies, amd cant prove you overclocked it so don't tell them you did:D

Who told you this fallacy? Both are equally important. It's a balance between voltage and temperature. Obviously the higher the voltage the lower the temp needs to go. It's a direct inverse function. So the more voltage you pump in to your CPU, the lower the max safe operating temp becomes.

so it will mean like
based on this

http://multi.also.lt/Pages/brochures/AMD/AMD_FX_CPU.PDF

Fx-8120 running @ 4 ghz your max safe voltage will be 1.4125 and max temp will be 61 grades.
FX-8120 running @ 4.9 ghz your max voltage is like 1.53 your max temp will be like 56 grades.

Does anyone have register of this issue, like speed, voltage ,and temp stable ?. or every chip will be different.

Also playing Battlefield 3 with 3 x 23.6" 1080p LED ASUS Monitors, the frames per second go from 19fps @ 4.6GHz to 70fps @ 4.943GHz which is a huge difference

I don't even have to read the rest of this thread after reading that statement. LMAO.
