q6600 @ 3.6 or phenom ii x2

Hey guys!

So, I have my good old q6600 chugging along at 3.6 GHz and I am pretty happy with it. I recently got an old phenom ii x2 545 and mini motherboard from my friend. He told me that the dual core would be better in all around multitasking as well as games. Well... is that true? I mean the L3 cache probably helps in terms of multitasking but the q6600 has 2 extra cores right? Wouldn't the number of cores matter over the L3 cache of phenom ii? I am running the q6600 at stock either so... or am I totally misinformed here... I don't really care about the multitasking as the q6600 has been more than fast enough for me, I am just wondering about gaming performance. Also, would the phenom be capable enough to drive my gtx 470? The max oc I can get on the phenom is around 3.6ish GHz.

Anyways, what do you guys think? I think the q6600 is the better option for me here. Oh, yeah, the phenom won't unlock either and the motherboard he gave me supports up to 95w only anyways...

Thanks in advance!

Q6600 is the better option.

even if you were considering a PII X4 of the same clock it wouldn't make any significant difference,
going to a PII X2 is almost like going from you C2Q to a C2D e7500 or something,
which doesn't make any sense, you are giving up a lot of performance,
a q6600 at 3.6GHz is probably as good as the fastest PII X4

Core 2 Quad = Phenom II X4 roughly. Stay with the Q6600 and OC it!

I figured as much, well that is perfectly fine with me. Besides, I don't think I could handle parting with my beloved q6600 . Thanks guys!
