How will my rig fair in games?

Thread Starter
Ok so im finishing up my new build. first thing to point out is this cost me under $600 total. now how will it do in new games even though its not DX11?

Mobo AM3+ UD3 on order
cpu Phenom II 830 X4
ram 4GB OCZ plat @ 2000mhz
2 GTX 295 single pcb with WB.
PSU OCZ 1000W mod stream.
Win 7 32bit ultimate
500GB WD Black.

Will i be able to play BF3 an MW3 with good frame rates?
With my junk AM2+ board i can get right under 4ghz on the cpu.

You should with most settings on high. I've read BF3 has issues with 200 series cards, but I don't have experience with it.

That is by far the largest roller coaster rig ive ever seen. Your got top of the line vid cards from a while ago, 4g ram, and amd proc. with windows 7...

Not trying to offend but usually when someone has 2 gtx295's they got like 8-12 gig ram and its just an over the top system lol.

Anyways...

That rig will do fine. The ram may be an issue to get most out of the games you play only because windows 7 is quite RAM demanding. But other than that, you can play your games. DX 11 is out of the picture since the cards dont support it, but for what they do support, youll kill it since its only 1080p that your playing on. For 600, thats pretty good. In most cases youll get better performance than most brand new 600 dollar rigs.

Nothing wrong with your system at all If scaling is on your side, you'll be pulling immense framerates on GPU-bound games (your Phenom II will hold you back a bit).

Yeah your system should do just fine. Problem will be scaling (you may get better frame rates out of ONE of the 295's) and the Phenom holding back those cards. Heck I saw a frame rate increase across the board when I went with this i5 setup over a 955 @ 4.14.

Besides those two possible issues, looks okay.

agreed here. The phenom is crappy for BF3 in multiplayer which is VERY cpu intensive.

OC that processor, it'll be a bottleneck for your 295's.
