[PCA] Mass Effect 3 ending ruined - Page 4

I haven't even read the script BUT I know for a fact these are the endings.

1. You beat the reapers
2. You lose to the reapers
3. You pull a hat trick out of your ass and merge with them in the ultimate act of dickery.

Come on people, you don't need a script to tell you that. AMass Effect 2 being such a let down in the gameplay and story department, I have no hope for this one. I just feel obligated to finish this series and I don't know why. I haven't felt this way since the end of Matrix Reloaded.

Meh, ME1 was great, but ME2 was so bland game play wise I just stopped playing it. Unfortunately not even interested in this franchise anymore.

I really really really hope they let you do this. As much as I love to play as a "Dirty Harry" action hero I do love to embrace my evil side from time to time. If they let you choose this ending it will certainly be the conclusion to my second playthrough.

I seriously can't even comprehend how anyone could possibly enjoy ME1's combat more than ME2's. Storywise, sure I can understand people's opinions. But gameplay... no. They turned from a giant mess of pseudo-RPG gameplay mixed with bad third-person shooting, into a good third-person shooter with more (and more varied) abilities.

Loot, character progression, an HP system, tech/biotics aren't as ezmode, the drastic change from CD to Ammo clips, that fast-killing/hardcounter crap they added to combat in ME2 (Due to lack of specing)...

And varied abilities? Varied abilities my foot. So you get more flashy abilities but in return you can hack, charm/intimidate, etc. like a pro to your hearts content.

Mass Effect 1's shooting mechanics weren't perfect, but atleast i didn't feel like i was playing Gears :/

Mass Effect 1's shooting mechanics weren't perfect, but atleast i didn't feel like i was playing Gears :/
It wasn't really an HP system, and while I'm fine with loot, the inventory system was horrid. New "loot" meant a new color of the same armor with different stats. And yeah, I wish they didn't cut down the talent trees as much.

Still, the actual real-time shooting in Mass Effect 2 is just so much better in every way to Mass Effect. Cover works better, you don't have ridiculously unstable guns early game, and the guns actually have variety.
I don't know "atleast it didn't feel like i was playing Gears" means, since I'm pretty sure Gears is one of the most celebrated third-person shooters, but whatever.
If Mass Effect 1 wasn't story-driven, I don't think anyone would have enjoyed it. Its combat was just bad.

Hmmm, where to start...

1. Cover based combat: ME1 had a better run and gun style. 30-40+ (depending on skills and stuff) you could take down an colossus by yourself without hidding/cover. ME2, had to hide the entire game.

2. Biotics: ME1, instant hit, more power, felt like it did something. ME2, bland sense of impact, stupid 'homing' thing (aka didn't hit always hit). ME1, with a fully max lift and push, you should lift an enemy and push them into the air for quite a distance. ME2, the enemy barely moved with hit with biotics. ME2, bland sense of impact, stupid 'homing' thing (aka didn't hit always hit)

3. Ammo: ME1, unlimited ammo, limited by heat. With enough upgrades heat wasn't an issue and you could waste everything in your way. ME2, limited ammo, had to find the stupid clips when enemies dropped them, couldn't buy them vendors for some stupid reason, more of a just getting by feel, aka you need to kill everyone so that you can get their ammo so you can later kill everyone so you can get their ammo, and so on and so forth.

6. Skills: ME1, nicely laid out skill tree with plenty of choice. ME2, very minimalism, felt like it was dumbed down for causal players who aren't used to complex RPGs. I feel like the ME universe was supposed to be an RPG, NOT a shooter.

This is all my opinion, but this is how I comprehend that ME1 was so much better than ME2.

..I see "run and gun" and "able to rambo larger enemies" as a bad thing actually. Maybe that's just me.

..Just disagree. ME2 biotics have much more impact, and you can still combine them.

Both ways have their perks. Don't act like ME2's system is some strange broken concept; every other shooter uses it.

Skillwise, I agree I wish it was more complex. That said, the ending talents in ME2 were awesome touches to personalizing characters. Honestly, in ME1, if you leveled high enough, you still took almost all the talents, barring a weapon or ability. It was hardly "customization".

Don't know where you got your info, but from the beginning it was supposed to be equal parts RPG and shooter. RPG story and choices, shooter combat.

Fair enough, still can't fathom, purely from playing both. I played ME1's in spite of it's gameplay, and until this thread I had yet to see anyone who actually liked it. I'd say I'm not in the minority, seeing the general public's responses to ME2.
