What upgrade to play BF3 on an ageing system? - Page 3

Something doesn't seem right. You should play on low fine. As for the slideshow, that is a problem. It should not do that. Possible overheating and downclocking may be the culprit. Check your temps.

As for an upgrade, the 460 is fine. You need to change the CPU, mobo, and ram because of ddr3. I would sell the old parts and pick up a 2500k.

I'm running it on a e8400 @ 4ghz with a gtx470 and the game runs fine @ 1080p medium settings no aa on 64man servers.

You should be able to run the game fine tbh, on your current setup.

But if you MUST upgrade, I concur with the guys who said CPU and motherboard. If you pick a good motherboard, it also allows you the option to upgrade later, perhaps to SLI 460 GTX, which will only run you about $150 more and nab you similar if not better performance than a single 570 GTX. Ok, if i shouldnt have a problem running it, then why do i? I just presumed something is bottlenecking since fps is really low.

I read the benchmark and Battlefield 3 is not CPU intensive one, difference in framerate is hard to realize. :-?
